October Weakerthan Linux 6 Update Release

Happy Halloween!!

Additions to the ISO (Why it's bigger in size)

My New Tools and My New GitHUB

I have finally updated my GitHUB page since the Google Code migration.

Web Application Penetration Testing

ss-6271 Shell Shock Exploit Script and WPES WeakNet PHP Post Exploitation Shell/Script. Both projects can be found here:

SS-6271 Shell Shock Script coded and added to menu (
WPES WeakNet PHP Post-Exploitation Shell/Script (

I am trying my best to get an environment set up to test/create a video presentation of both. Here is a video showing off the Shell Shock Script:

New RF Utilities

I have also added 3 new RF Utilities that I made while writing my book Penetration Testing with Perl - DevList, 80211Sniff, and ChannelSet. These tools were written only using Perl and can be found under Penetration Testing->Network Utilities->RF Utilities->WeakNet Labs

Warcarrier Updated!

Warcarrier is now Warcarrier-ng and has been updated to the latest version. The latest version has a newer interface with a lot more functionality. The GitHUB repo for Warcarrier and more information can be found here: To start Warcarrier, you will need a GPS USB device, I recommend the old GlobalSat BU-353 (because it works), an 80211 network adapter which supports RFMON mode, I recommend anything made by Atheros/Qualcomm or if you really have to the ALFA 1W USB thing, and optionally you can use a USB Bluetooth dongle and the HackRF Ubertooth One for 802.15 spectrum analysis.

So, each time I update the ISO, the updates get bigger and better. This is no exception as you can see from the unordered list above. I have provided links to the tools pages for those unfamiliar with them. I got no recommendations this time around so I just put in tools that I felt that I would use on a daily basis while penetration testing. I hope that you enjoy the shiny new ISO file! If you like the ISO and my work, please consider donating as every little bit helps!

  1. Can you add this anonymitize tool? pleaase

    1. That is already added. It's under the menu - Penetration Testing->Stealth->Nipe

  2. I think the installer is broken in the latest build as it just fills up the disk and fails to install grubs. No errors or warnings pop up during the install and it stops "installing" after the disk is full. It's a small 16GB drive on a netbook. I'll give it a shot on my VMware server and see if it does the same thing.

    1. Same is done in a VM installing to disk.

    2. Hello and thanks for the info. I haven't seen this issue and I didn't write the installer myself, Tony did from Remastersys. I also haven't changed or even updated it since all of the previous releases (since technically you can't because the project is now defunct). I just installed this release for a video in a WeakNet Academy course just yesterday and it went well also. Have you tried installing it a second time after this happens? How are you installing it? From the desktop menu "Applications->System->Administration->Live Installer" ? I made a video on how to do it in VMWare here:

  3. I launched the installer from the desktop menu. I have tried installing several times on both my netbook and VM. The only difference was that I did not use a label. However I just retried again (With the labels) on both the VM and Netbook and both failed.

    1. I am looking at the installer and it looks it it uses rsync whic is a stable product. I also scoured the web in search for this problem and came up empty handed. How much drive space did you use in the VM? just wondering. Once installed, my VM installation is 14.5GB and I usually use about 20 for disk space when making a VM. Could it be that some part of the netbook drive is used by something else (firmware, etc) and you might not have enough space?

    2. I only put a 8GB SD card in as a drive for the netbook. This appears to be the issue as I figured a 2.1GB live install would only take 2.1GB. My VMs on the desktop I only choose to make 16GB drives and give 2GB to swap. How embarrassing, thanks for your help.

  4. Hello,

Actually, it's my first time hearing about Weakerthan Linux distro, after installing it I liked it a lot!
I liked the WM themes, the wbar, the way all security tools in each topic are gathered in one place. Thanks a lot Douglas for such cool distro.

As a soft/hard-ware reverse engineer and pentesting trainer, I was missing GNU radio and osmocom scripts. It would be great if you consider appending them to the great tool list in your next upgrade.
Also, why isn't Linux 4.X supported yet? A lot of hardware drivers are missing since that the old < 3.9 kernels weren't supporting them.

    Keep up the great work.

    Much Regards

    1. Hello, thank you for the compliment. Sorry for the delay in reply. You can install the 4.3 kernel from the repository. Simply try "apt-cache search linux-image" for a newer kernel.
